Join our team supporting critical U.S. Navy aviation programs at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland. This position offers an opportunity to apply your expertise in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) to the development, integration, testing, and evaluation of advanced aircraft systems.
As an Aircraft GNC Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers, scientists, and government stakeholders to address complex aerospace challenges and support the advancement of next-generation naval aviation capabilities. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in aircraft guidance, navigation, control systems, modeling and simulation, and/or flight-test support, along with a passion for solving challenging engineering problems in a mission-focused environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to contribute directly to U.S. Navy aviation programs while working at one of the nation's premier naval aviation research, development, test, and evaluation facilities.
Essential Job Functions:
• Review software and hardware requirements for GPS, design documentation, test plans, test procedures, and other technical documentation.
• Working with leading edge GPS technologies in support of aircraft. Includes GPS and assured position navigation and timing (APNT).
• Participate in Systems Engineering Technical Review process.
• Evaluate vendor design and requirements documents for technical accuracy.
• Provide technical expertise supporting system designs and aircraft integration efforts.
Required Skills:
• Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
• Good written and oral communications. Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently and as part of multiple teams.
Desired Skills:
• Familiar with NAVAIR Systems Engineering Technical Review processes. Familiar with Navy acquisition regulations and processes. Master's degree in aeronautical, systems, electrical, or computer engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting aircraft avionics integrations of GPS navigation systems, preferably into military aircraft.
