Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Timing and Synchronization Test Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing, developing, and executing test plans and procedures for timing and synchronization systems in complex telecommunications and networking environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in timing protocols, network synchronization, and test engineering methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans for timing and synchronization systems, including GPS-based timing, IEEE 1588 (PTP), and other timing protocols.
- Design and implement test scenarios to validate timing accuracy, stability, and performance under various network conditions.
- Utilize test equipment such as timing analyzers, signal generators, and network emulators to validate system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate timing and synchronization solutions into larger system architectures.
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations for system improvements and optimizations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, results, and findings.
- Support customer acceptance testing and provide technical guidance during system deployments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in timing and synchronization systems, preferably in telecommunications or networking environments.
- Proven experience with timing protocols such as IEEE 1588 (PTP), GPS, and other timing standards.
- Strong understanding of network architecture, protocols, and performance metrics.
- Experience with test equipment and tools for timing and synchronization validation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with software-defined radios and related timing applications.
- Knowledge of 5G NR and other emerging communication standards.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, or other scripting languages for test automation.
- Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools.
Clearance Requirements
Active Secret clearance required. U.S. citizenship required.
