Senior Drafting Specialist/CADD Technician

Location: Fort Eisenhower, GA

Clearance: Active TS/SCI

 

Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Drafting Specialist/CADD Technician to support facility engineering, infrastructure, and mission critical operations in Fort Eisenhower, GA. In this role, you will work closely with engineers, architects, and other technical professionals to develop, maintain, and update detailed architectural and engineering drawings for facilities and infrastructure located worldwide.

 

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with AutoCAD and Revit, along with the ability to translate field measurements, site surveys, engineering specifications, and technical requirements into accurate and detailed drawings. This position is well suited for an experienced CADD professional who enjoys a combination of technical drafting, facility investigations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare architectural and engineering drawings for facilities, facility systems, utilities, and infrastructure in support of operations, maintenance, repair, and construction activities.
  • Perform complex design and drafting assignments requiring advanced knowledge of drafting standards, practices, and techniques.
  • Conduct fieldwork, site surveys, and facility investigations to collect architectural, engineering, utility, and infrastructure data required to develop drawings and supporting details.
  • Prepare, revise, and update engineering drawings using CADD systems.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive drawing database for supported facilities worldwide.
  • Maintain facility, infrastructure, and utility drawings while providing drafting support to engineers, architects, and other technical professionals.
  • Gather supporting technical data and prepare detailed drawings depicting dimensions, specifications, utilities, facilities, and related infrastructure information.
  • Prepare detailed layouts, assembly drawings, working drawings, drawing files, and indexes.
  • Ensure drawings and plans comply with project scope, customer specifications, applicable standards, and technical requirements.
  • Develop computer generated drawings, overlays, graphs, and charts using sketches, field notes, specifications, and other source materials.
  • Use technical specifications and information gathered through site surveys to prepare drawing documentation for engineering change proposals and engineering installation plans supporting the installation or upgrade of complex electronic communications equipment.
  • Develop illustrations and supporting graphics for technical publications, including applicable INSCOM and Intelligence Community regulations and guidance.
  • Prepare technical documentation, briefings, and reports.
  • Support the efficient operation and maintenance of applicable hardware, software, drawing systems, and databases.
  • Analyze drafting and documentation processes and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage multiple assignments while meeting established drawing and project delivery deadlines.
  • Perform field activities that may require maneuvering within confined or limited spaces and lifting up to 50 pounds.

 

Education and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Associate’s degree in Design Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline with at least five years of experience performing engineering drafting using AutoCAD and 3D drafting using Revit.
  • Seven years of equivalent military experience performing engineering drafting using AutoCAD and 3D drafting using Revit.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience performing design studies and translating design objectives into detailed physical specifications.
  • Ability to collect measurements and technical data through physical inspections of facilities and electronic equipment and translate that information into accurate design layouts.
  • Experience developing detailed electrical and electronic schematics using CADD systems and associated input and output devices.
  • Ability to develop mechanical drawings, working drawings, and schematics for parts and assemblies from sketches, layouts, and design plans.
  • Working knowledge of applicable drafting and technical documentation standards, including current versions of MIL T 31000 and MIL STD 100.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit, including 3D drafting.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately interpret engineering specifications, technical documentation, field measurements, and design requirements.

 

Clearance Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
