Job Description



The Network Operations Specialist provides operational and technical support for enterprise network and infrastructure services in a mission-critical environment. The position is responsible for continuously monitoring network and infrastructure performance, responding to alerts and incidents, coordinating repairs and service restoration, and maintaining accurate operational documentation.


The Network Operations Specialist serves as a key point of contact for incident response and escalation, working closely with technical teams, remote support personnel, and Government representatives to maintain network availability, reliability, and operational effectiveness.


The ideal candidate will have hands-on network operations experience, a strong understanding of network and infrastructure troubleshooting, and experience supporting VoIP services in an enterprise environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Network Operations & Monitoring


  • Monitor network infrastructure, systems, and services using enterprise monitoring and management tools.

  • Analyze alerts, events, alarms, and performance indicators and take appropriate action to prevent or minimize service disruptions.

  • Identify abnormal network conditions and initiate troubleshooting and escalation procedures.

  • Monitor network availability, connectivity, performance, and capacity.

  • Maintain awareness of the operational status of mission-critical infrastructure and services.



Incident Management & Troubleshooting


  • Respond to network and infrastructure incidents from initial triage through resolution.

  • Troubleshoot connectivity, performance, hardware, configuration, and service-related issues.

  • Assess incident severity and operational impact and escalate issues in accordance with established procedures.

  • Coordinate with network engineers, systems administrators, vendors, remote technical teams, and other support personnel to resolve complex incidents.

  • Track incidents through resolution and ensure all actions and troubleshooting steps are accurately documented.

  • Support service restoration activities and participate in after-action reviews as required.



Infrastructure Repair & Service Restoration


  • Respond to infrastructure failures, outages, and service degradation.

  • Coordinate and direct remote technical activities necessary to troubleshoot, repair, and restore network infrastructure.

  • Validate system and service recovery following maintenance or repair activities.

  • Assist with hardware replacement, configuration changes, equipment troubleshooting, and other infrastructure support activities.

  • Support preventive maintenance and corrective actions to improve system availability and reliability.



VoIP Support


  • Monitor and troubleshoot Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services and associated network connectivity.

  • Assist with diagnosing voice quality, connectivity, registration, configuration, and service availability issues.

  • Coordinate VoIP-related incidents with network, telecommunications, systems, and vendor support teams.

  • Document troubleshooting activities and service restoration actions.



Root Cause Analysis & Documentation


  • Prepare Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation for significant incidents in accordance with Government procedures.

  • Identify contributing factors, corrective actions, and recommendations to reduce recurrence of incidents.

  • Maintain accurate incident records, operational logs, troubleshooting documentation, and technical reports.

  • Ensure all required information is captured in designated Government and company systems.



Data Center & Infrastructure Support


  • Provide data center support as required, including equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational activities.

  • Assist with infrastructure installations, equipment changes, and system maintenance.

  • Follow established data center access, security, safety, and operational procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment and infrastructure activities.



Shift Operations & Reporting


  • Document daily shift activities, incidents, maintenance activities, system status, and outstanding issues using appropriate reporting and ticketing systems.

  • Ensure complete and accurate shift turnover and pass-down of unresolved incidents, maintenance activities, and operational concerns.

  • Review previous shift activities and identify issues requiring immediate attention.

  • Maintain accurate and timely ticket updates throughout the shift.

  • Support continuous 24x7 operational coverage as required.



Government & Customer Support


  • Provide timely notification to Government representatives regarding significant incidents, outages, service degradation, and other operational events.

  • Communicate technical information clearly and professionally to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Participate in operational briefings, incident reviews, and technical meetings as required.

  • Maintain strict adherence to Government procedures, security requirements, and operational standards.



Required Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience in network operations, network monitoring, infrastructure support, or a related IT environment.

  • Hands-on experience supporting VoIP technologies.

  • Experience troubleshooting network connectivity, infrastructure, and service availability issues.

  • Experience working with network monitoring, ticketing, and incident-management systems.

  • Ability to analyze alerts and incidents and determine appropriate troubleshooting and escalation actions.

  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a mission-critical operational environment.

  • Ability to support shift operations, including nights, weekends, holidays, or other non-standard hours as required.

  • Active Secret security clearance required.



Certification Requirements


Candidates must possess at least one recognized network, operating system, or application support certification, such as:


  • CompTIA Network+

  • Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)

  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)

  • Other equivalent OEM or industry-recognized network, operating system, or application certification.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $60,000 to $72,000 annually. The anticipated salary range for this position is provided in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. The final starting salary will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and work location (where applicable), as well as internal equity and market considerations.
