Embedded Software- Engineer
Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain an Active Secret Clearance – Must be US Citizen due to the nature of the work.
Work Location: This position is 100% onsite – must live within 100 miles of Lexington, MA

About the Role:
Aquila Technology is seeking a Embedded Software Engineer to join its team in support of one of the nation’s premier defense research organizations. The team is in need of a short-term control system developer to join our team in testing Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT) systems. This role will involve the designing of testbeds to fully assess PAT systems, developing code to collect data, and analyzing the data.

Aquila Technology will reimburse team members who work from home ONLY for cell phone/mobile device fees for work-related communications and/or operations each month. Employees eligible for this benefit must work remote 2 days a week or more to qualify.
Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) – Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services. To qualify for this benefit, employees must have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment and must agree to and sign the Device Minimum Configuration Form prior to reimbursement. Electronic devices eligible under the Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) program are limited to cell phones, laptops, and tablets.

Must Have
- Degree Level: Bachelor’s Degree
- 2 years – Familiarity with camera interfaces (ie Digital Focal Plan Array and/or a sensors unlimited camera)
- 2 years – Version control systems (Git)
- 2 years – C/C++ Programming
- 2 years – Control system modeling and design (MATLAB, Simulink)
- 2 years – Development experience on a Linux platform
- 2 years – MATLAB
- 2 years – Embedded System Development
- 2 years – Experience with Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT) systems
Nice to Have
- Degree Level: Masters Degree
- Electrical/Electronics – Analog
Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to create / design testbeds to assess PAT systems
- Develop telemetry and data collection software
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate designs for testing
- Test and validate PAT Systems with hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within PAT systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- Proficiency in C++ development, with experience in software development for embedded systems
- Proficiency in Matlab and other analysis tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Familiarity with camera interfaces (such as Digital Focal Plan Array and/or a sensors unlimited camera) and image processing techniques
- Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git
- Experience with Linux or other embedded operating systems
Desired Skills:
- Strong understanding of control theory (e.g., PID control, state-space analysis, feedback loops).
- Knowledge of analog electronics and mixed-signal design
