Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, engineering, and operation of scalable, highly available enterprise data platforms and core platform services.
- Provide technical leadership to the Data Platform Engineering team, establish priorities, review designs, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery against commitments.
- Define and govern enterprise data platform architecture, engineering standards, technical patterns, and long-term platform roadmaps.
- Architect and oversee complex ETL/ELT pipelines, data movement, orchestration, data integration, and governance capabilities.
- Administer and optimize enterprise Databricks environments, including account and workspace configuration, Unity Catalog, compute and cluster policies, access controls, security, performance, and cost management.
- Design and maintain automated Databricks platform administration and governance capabilities supporting secure, scalable enterprise adoption.
- Build and oversee data engineering workflows using Databricks tools such as Lakeflow Designer, Lakeflow Pipelines, and Lakeflow Jobs.
- Design cloud modernization strategies that migrate legacy applications and data workloads onto modern Azure and Databricks architectures.
- Architect applications and analytical solutions leveraging enterprise data platforms and shared data services.
- Evaluate platform architectures, emerging technologies, and alternative technical approaches to improve scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Design and integrate emerging AI capabilities including autonomous agents, Genie, and MCP-enabled tools and services.
- Leverage Databricks SQL, Queries, AI/BI Dashboards, and Genie capabilities to support enterprise analytics and data consumption.
- Collaborate with solutions, customer success, engineering, and business teams to troubleshoot technical issues, monitor platform health, optimize costs, and align capabilities with strategic goals.
- Oversee supporting analytical platforms, including SAS Viya and other enterprise data science environments.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise data platforms or large-scale data engineering solutions.
- 5+ years of experience defining enterprise data architecture, standards, and roadmaps.
- 5+ years hands-on experience building and managing complex ETL/ELT pipelines, data orchestration, and governance.
- Deep expertise administering enterprise Databricks environments, including account and workspace configuration, Unity Catalog, compute policies, security, and performance tuning.
- 5+ years managing Databricks platform governance, security, and administration at scale.
- Proven experience designing and implementing automated Databricks administration and governance.
- Experience with Lakeflow Designer, Lakeflow Pipelines, Lakeflow Jobs, or similar Databricks orchestration tools.
- Proficiency with Databricks SQL, AI/BI dashboards, Genie Code, and Genie Agents.
- Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services, including Data Factory, ADLS, Azure Databricks, Synapse, Power BI, Key Vault, Azure DevOps, Azure AD, and Azure Monitor.
- Experience with cloud architecture, security, observability, performance optimization, resilience, and cost management.
- Ability to lead engineering teams, review architecture/designs, and mentor staff.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering SAS Viya and Posit products, including deployment and user management.
- Relevant Databricks certifications, including Databricks Certified Generative AI Engineer or related AI industry certifications.
- Experience supporting federal, healthcare, or regulated enterprise data environments.
- Master's degree in related fields.

Salary Range: $160,000.00 - $170,000.00
