Job Description

Responsibilities

Assess existing engineering artifacts and translate requirements, architectures, interfaces, operational concepts, and verification criteria into integrated MBSE models. The candidate will apply systems and mission engineering methodologies throughout the engineering lifecycle to improve requirements traceability, architecture development, analysis, verification and validation, testing, and system integration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review and assess existing technical and engineering artifacts, including Requests for Changes (RFCs), System Requirements Documents (SRDs), Program Requirements Documents (PRDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), CONOPS, Agile Solution and Program Epics, and test/acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain MBSE artifacts and mission/system models using Cameo and other industry-standard modeling tools.
  • Create requirements traces, system and architecture views, functional views, sequence diagrams, interface models, and other engineering artifacts supporting the digital thread.
  • Apply SysML, UAF, UML, and other applicable modeling languages and frameworks to represent complex mission and system architectures.
  • Support requirements engineering, architecture development, system design, verification and validation (V&V), test strategy, and system integration activities.
  • Apply MBSE methodologies to support the transition from conceptual mission architectures through physical system implementations.
  • Support data modeling, data ingest, model queries, and the definition of appropriate data structures and standards necessary to maintain integrated mission and system models.
  • Support test automation, simulations, analysis, and digital twin capabilities through MBSE content and applicable simulation or analysis tools.
  • Analyze system performance, reliability, interfaces, and stability across test and operational environments.
  • Integrate MBSE and mission engineering processes with broader program activities, including configuration management, risk management, readiness, schedules, acquisition activities, and Agile development.
  • Collaborate with engineers, developers, program personnel, SETA/FFRDC partners, and government stakeholders to identify modeling requirements and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and collaborative working sessions to communicate modeling needs, resolve engineering issues, and improve MBSE processes and methodologies.
  • Develop and communicate technical recommendations, analyses, and engineering products to government customers and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Programming, or a related technical discipline with 5-7 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 3-5 years; or PhD with 0-2 years.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active TS/SCI with Polygraph and successfully meet applicable customer crossover requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and systems engineering lifecycle processes.
  • Experience developing or working with mission and/or system models using SysML, UML, UAF, or comparable modeling languages/frameworks.
  • Experience with systems engineering disciplines including requirements engineering, architecture, system design, interfaces, verification and validation, testing, and system integration.
  • Experience with GEOINT space-based sensors, payloads, products, and/or data.
  • Experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) or related GEOINT mission environments.
  • Strong understanding of how MBSE supports requirements, design, analysis, verification, validation, and integration across the digital engineering lifecycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop clear, concise technical products and communicate effectively with technical teams, program leadership, and government stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
