V2X is seeking a skilled lab manager to join our team. The project lab manager is a hands-on coordinator that facilitates project operations and test events in a lab environment ensuring project schedule and needs are met all while upholding company core values.
The Project Lab Manager is responsible for day-to-day management and configuration control of multi-program Hardware Engineering labs supporting DoD development and integration efforts. This role owns the physical and logical organization of labs and assets, including; tracking, movement, tagging, and configuration. Typical items controlled by the project lab manager may include GFE, test equipment, avionics boxes, hardware, prototyping equipment, and related infrastructure.
The Project Lab Manager interfaces with hardware engineers, systems engineers, technicians, program management, IT, security, and property administration to ensure that all program labs and assets are properly accounted for, safe to operate, and available to support program schedules. This position is program focused on lab and asset management within the Engineering organization.

Responsibilities
- Lab Configuration Control
- Own lab configuration control for areas and shared test setups within the engineering labs.
- Define and maintain standard configurations, naming conventions, labeling schemes, and movement practices.
- Maintain current equipment revisions, connection diagrams, and lab layout documentation.
- Coordinate with hardware engineering, facilities, and IT on power, network, cooling, and space planning for new or reconfigured equipment.
- Ensure changes to lab configurations are documented, communicated, and traceable.
- Lab Usage Processes and Enforcement
- Implement and manage check-in/check-out processes for shared lab equipment.
- Maintain equipment sign-out logs, reservations, and utilization tracking as needed.
- Enforce lab rules related to ESD, equipment handling, power/network changes, safety, and configuration control.
- Provide guidance to lab users on proper handling and use of lab assets.
- Support to Program Execution
- Prepare and verify lab configurations to support integration events, test campaigns, or customer demonstrations.
- Coordinate availability of required equipment, power, network connectivity, and bench/rack space to support program schedules.
- Identify asset or lab configuration shortfalls and communicate risks and mitigation options to program and engineering leads.
- Lab Asset Inventory and Control
- Maintain a master asset inventory for the engineering labs across multiple DoD programs.
- Track asset location, custody, calibration, and status (in use, spare, repair, storage, disposal).
- Coordinate physical movement and relocation of assets between racks, benches, lab spaces, calibration, and storage areas.
- Ensure accurate, timely updates to asset records when hardware is received, moved, reassigned, or retired.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of engineering hardware with receiving, logistics, and property functions.
- Verify incoming hardware against packing lists or purchase documentation and ensure correct tagging and entry into asset tracking systems.
- Coordinate shipment of lab hardware to other internal sites, suppliers, or test ranges in accordance with company procedures and DoD-related requirements.
- Support internal and external property/asset audits (e.g., corporate audits, DCMA/customer reviews) by providing inventory data and documentation.
- Process Improvement and Documentation
- Recommend and implement improvements to lab management and asset tracking processes.
- Contribute to or author local lab management procedures, work instructions, and standards.
- Support deployment and refinement of asset tracking tools and methods (e.g., barcoding/RFID, databases, dashboards).
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret clearance.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in lab, asset, or property management in a technical environment.
- 3+ years of experience working in a hardware, engineering, or integration/test lab environment.
- Experience with asset management or property control in a DoD, defense contractor, or similarly controlled environment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical documentation (layout drawings, equipment lists, wiring diagrams at a high level) sufficient to manage physical configurations and placements.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with engineering, program management, logistics, IT, security, and property administration.
- Ability to work on-site full-time in a lab environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a DoD-focused hardware engineering, integration, or system test lab.
- Familiarity with standards, policies, and best practices associated with lab operations.
- Familiarity with government property concepts (e.g., GFE/GFP) and associated audit expectations, even if not directly managing classified or weapons assets.
- Experience documenting or maintaining lab standards, local operating procedures, or configuration control policies.
- Experience coordinating lab resources across multiple programs with differing schedules, priorities, and hardware baselines.
