The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. As a Hybrid Assembly Technician...
- Work in a cleanroom environment with various assembly tools including wire bonders, flip chip bonder, plasma cleaners, microscopes, and dicing saw among other assembly tools.
- Interface with project and manufacturing engineers in resolution of problems on related hardware and to develop complex manufacturing instructions.
- Help maintain the cleanroom facility, chemistry labs, and the processing tools.
- Document procedures, report on progress, and support our paperwork requirements as needed.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Have 1+ year experience in microelectronics packaging and assembly, such as wire bonding, die attach or flip chip bonding.
- Have the ability to interpret both formal and informal assembly documentation.
- Willing and able to work in a Class 8 Cleanroom.
- Have a passion to learn and improve manufacturing processes.
- Are customer- oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Have strong organizational skills.
- Detailed oriented.
- Are self- motivated, capable of multi- taking, and capable of following verbal and written instructions.
- Can work in a collaborative environment with partners both inside and outside of the fabrication team.
- Are flexible in work hours during occasional periods of heavy workload. Shifted work hours and overtime (some evenings/weekends) could be required for short periods.
- Able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 1 years of experience in Hybrid/microelectronic packaging
- Good working knowledge of Military and NASA Standards for hybrid microcircuits
- Working Knowledge and experience in Heterogeneous Integration
- Ability to design packages, substrates, interposers, fixtures, printed wiring boards
- Create drawings using AutoCad, Solidworks or other design software
- Ability to design simple electrical test fixtures.
- Customer service experience.
