Job Description
Allegheny Science & Technology (AST) is seeking a Watch Desk Operator I to support the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (DACID) Biometric Operations Department (BOD) in Clarksburg, WV. This position provides 24/7/365 operational and decision support and plays an integral role in facilitating the successful processing of biometric records.
The Watch Desk Operator will monitor biometric systems and networks, process and transfer biometric files, respond to inquiries, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across the biometric community. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a mission-focused watch desk environment and learning and operating specialized biometric software and systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Provide 24/7/365 operations and decision support for the DACID Biometric Operations Department.
-Monitor classified and unclassified networks for the upload and processing of biometric files and images.
-Facilitate the successful processing of biometric records and transactions.
-Manually transfer biometric files and images between domains in accordance with established cross-domain transfer procedures.
-Become familiar with and efficiently operate biometric software programs and government-provided automated tools.
-Respond to questions and inquiries regarding biometric files, transactions, and related operational matters.
-Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders across the Department of Defense (DoD), DoD Partner Nations, Federal Law Enforcement, the Intelligence Community (IC), and the U.S. Government.
-Work closely with System Administrators to monitor the operational status and health of multiple systems.
-Identify and correct biometric file errors as necessary to support successful processing.
-Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common and recurring Watch Desk activities.
-Generate standard and ad hoc reports for government representatives.
-Review operational data and identify trends to support recommendations for process improvements and training.
-Perform general office administration activities and operate standard office equipment as required.
Required Qualifications:
-Associate’s degree, or equivalent, in a discipline related to the contract tasks.
-Two (2) years of direct military operations support experience in a 24/7/365 environment, including at least one (1) year of specialized experience.
-In lieu of the education and experience requirements above, candidates may qualify through one of the following combinations:
-Bachelor’s degree or higher with zero (0) years of relevant experience; or
-High school diploma with three (3) years of relevant experience.
-Specialized experience must include demonstrated experience relevant to the position’s responsibilities or experience providing 24/7/365 operational support within a watch floor, command center, Network Operations Center (NOC), or similar operational environment.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with government, military, law enforcement, intelligence community, and other mission partners.
-Ability to learn and effectively operate specialized biometric software and automated systems.
-Ability to follow established procedures when handling and transferring information across network domains.
Other Qualifications:
-U.S. Citizenship is required.
-Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance
