BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR GS-0188 POSITIONS
Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education.

Experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the specialized experience listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) managing the operations for a community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs;
2) applying evaluating techniques to solve complex issues and management problems in relation to recreation service support; AND
3) providing technical and policy expertise regarding recreational programs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

- As senior recreation specialist, you will provide guidance and technical assistance to recreation specialist and NAF business operations manager.
- You will serve as a contractor officer representative (COR) to provide guidance and monitor the MWR contractor's performance in support of USARCENT/ASG-Kuwait MWR-wide programs.
- You will develop a promotional strategy for MWR events to ensure conservation of non-appropriated and appropriated funds for these programs as they fit into the overall objectives and goals.
- You will establish and monitor performance standards for subordinates.

- This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
