Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced SaaS Product Software Architect to provide technical vision, architectural leadership, and strategic direction for a growing SaaS product organization. This role is ideal for a senior software architecture professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, evaluating emerging technologies, and shaping scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-native platforms.

As a SaaS Architect, you will work closely with Product, Engineering, Development, and Architecture teams to translate business and functional requirements into effective technical solutions. You will help define the technology strategy and architectural roadmap for SaaS products while establishing engineering best practices, design patterns, and standards across development teams.

This is a hybrid position, with an expectation of working onsite 2-3 days per week in either Raleigh, NC or Jacksonville, FL.
Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical strategy and architecture for SaaS product initiatives.
• Develop conceptual system designs, architectural roadmaps, and scalable technical solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, cloud services, architectural patterns, and industry best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and serve as an architectural advocate across Product and Engineering teams.
• Design and guide cloud-native, highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable SaaS solutions.
• Translate business and functional requirements into effective technical architectures and integrated solutions.
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts for new or complex architectural components.
• Partner with fellow Architects to establish, communicate, and implement approved architectural patterns and standards.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to software engineers and SaaS development teams.
• Conduct architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Document system architectures, technical decisions, and design patterns as appropriate.
• Collaborate effectively with local and distributed teams across Product, Engineering, and Development.
• Apply Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
• Manage multiple priorities and technical initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Incorporate AI-assisted and Agentic AI development tools into architectural design and the software development lifecycle where appropriate.

Required Skills/Education

• 7+ years of software development experience, with significant concentration in software design and architecture, particularly at the platform or enterprise level.
• Proven experience translating business and functional requirements into scalable, effective technical solutions.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and architectural design patterns.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud-native architectures and modern cloud technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure-based services preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Platform as a Service (PaaS), and containerized application environments.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and cloud-native service development.
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and modern software delivery processes.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools and/or Agentic AI tools within software architecture or the software development lifecycle.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Kanban software development environments.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical and methodical problem-solving skills.
• Self-directed, proactive approach with demonstrated initiative.
• Strong collaboration, communication, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience designing highly performant and reliable commercial or business-to-business applications.
