The Mission Software Directorate is seeking a Technical Trainer with a SECRET clearance to plan, develop, maintain, and deliver technical training programs and supporting documentation for complex mission software and integrated system solutions. The position will initially support the Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS) Engineering & Integration (E&I) effort and future Layered Security System / Mission Software Directorate programs requiring operator, maintainer, system administrator, cybersecurity, and sustainment training.

The Technical Trainer will independently assess training requirements and develop training approaches that enable users to effectively operate, administer, maintain, secure, and sustain Mission Software capabilities. The individual will translate complex software, hardware, cybersecurity, and system integration information into effective training solutions tailored to specific user communities and operational environments.

 

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining lesson plans, course content, user manuals, sustainment manuals, quick reference guides, training presentations, practical exercises, and other instructional and technical materials. The Technical Trainer will support software and system releases by assessing changes for training and documentation impacts and ensuring affected materials remain synchronized with the released system configuration.

 

The Technical Trainer will work closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Integration and Test, Cybersecurity, Field Support, program teams, Government customers, and other subject matter experts to develop technically accurate and operationally relevant training. Training audiences may include operators, maintainers, system administrators, Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), field support personnel, and other technical users.

 

The individual will serve as the primary point of contact for planning, coordinating, and tracking training and technical documentation activities and schedules across supported programs. The Technical Trainer will independently manage assigned training projects and processes, coordinate technical reviews and customer inputs, evaluate training effectiveness, and recommend improvements to training content, delivery methods, and supporting documentation.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

• Plan, develop, and deliver technical training programs supporting Mission Software capabilities, including C-sUAS E&I, Layered Security Systems, and future Directorate programs.
• Analyze training needs and develop appropriate training solutions for operators, maintainers, system administrators, ISSOs, field support personnel, and other technical user communities.
• Develop and maintain lesson plans, training materials, course content, user manuals, sustainment manuals, quick reference guides, practical exercises, and other technical documentation supporting system operation and sustainment.
• Assess software releases, hardware changes, and system configuration updates for training and documentation impacts, and develop or revise affected products to remain synchronized with the released configuration.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for training and technical documentation schedules, coordinating requirements, technical inputs, reviews, revisions, customer feedback, and delivery milestones across supported programs.
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, integration and test, field support, OEM, and Government subject matter experts to ensure training products are technically accurate, operationally relevant, and appropriate for the intended audience.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and user feedback and recommend improvements to course content, instructional methodology, documentation, and delivery approaches, including train-the-trainer activities when required.

 

Basic Qualifications

• Typically requires BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience independently planning, developing, and delivering technical training programs for complex technical products, software applications, information systems, or integrated hardware/software solutions.
• Demonstrated experience conducting training needs analyses and translating identified needs into structured training approaches, lesson plans, course content, and instructional materials.
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining technical training products, including user manuals, quick reference guides, training presentations, lesson materials, practical exercises, and/or sustainment documentation.
• Demonstrated experience developing or updating training and technical documentation in response to software releases, system upgrades, configuration changes, or capability enhancements.
• Demonstrated experience translating complex technical information into clear, usable instructional content for multiple technical audiences, such as operators, maintainers, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, or field support personnel.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing training projects or processes, including schedules, technical inputs, reviews, revisions, and delivery milestones.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with engineers, developers, technical SMEs, customers, and other stakeholders to develop technically accurate training solutions and influence training approaches.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Active Secret security clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and delivering training for Department of Defense or other Federal Government mission systems.
• Experience supporting mission software, C-sUAS, force protection, layered security, command-and-control, sensor integration, or other complex system-of-systems environments.
• Experience developing technical training for operators, maintainers, system administrators, and/or ISSOs.
• Experience supporting software release-driven training and documentation, including assessing release content and determining required changes to user and sustainment documentation.
• Experience supporting rapid prototyping, system integration, developmental/operational testing, fielding, or sustainment programs.
• Experience developing and delivering hands-on laboratory or field-based technical training in addition to classroom or virtual instruction.
• Experience developing train-the-trainer programs, qualifying instructors, or evaluating training effectiveness and knowledge application.
• Experience working across multiple concurrent programs and adjusting training priorities based on software release schedules, fielding events, customer requirements, and program execution needs.

Familiarity with configuration management and document control processes used to ensure training materials remain aligned with approved system configurations.

Pay Range: Pay Range $65,650.00 - $118,675.00
