Job Description

TIAG is now hiring a Google Workspace Solutions Engineer to support our team at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD. This position requires a Secret Level clearance in order to start work. This position reports onsite in Bethesda in a hybrid capacity.

The Google Workspace Solutions Engineer serves as a technical lead supporting the Uniformed Services University (USU) during a major operational transition. Rather than developing custom software applications from scratch the candidate will maximize standard, enterprise-approved Google tools to solve complex operational challenges and streamline processes.

The engineer will help the university manage growing data and workflow demands by building interconnected spreadsheets, automated low-code workflows, and dynamic visual dashboards. This role focuses on optimizing native workspace capabilities so government staff can focus on their primary mission, ultimately enabling a seamless transition away from legacy data management systems.

Responsibilities include:
• Act as the go-to expert to fix broken spreadsheets, untangle complex formulas, and resolve immediate workflow bottlenecks that arise during the transition.
• Review how the USU team currently uses Google Workspace and identify practical ways to make their daily administrative tasks faster and easier.
• Set up clear, highly secure folder structures and access rules in Google Drive, ensuring that only authorized personnel can view sensitive operational, academic, and financial records.
• Lead the design and rollout of digital solutions using native tools like Google Forms, Google Sheets, AppSheet, and Looker Studio to replace manual or paper-based processes.
• Create automated digital review forms, email notifications, and easy-to-use trackers for course planning, physical inventory, and daily reporting.
• Build visual dashboards that give leadership a real-time, easy-to-read view of course progress, program health, and multi-stream budgets.
• Connect various spreadsheets and tools together so information flows smoothly across the team without requiring manual double-entry.
• Help map out exactly how information from legacy databases will fit into the new Google-based environment.
• Create simple, clear upload templates so government staff can smoothly transfer their historical data.
• Double-check the newly moved data to ensure everything is accurate, secure, and functioning properly in the new tools.
• Write clear, easy-to-follow user guides and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the new tools.
• Run hands-on training sessions and walkthroughs to ensure the university team feels confident using, managing, and updating the Google Workspace solutions on their own.
• Look ahead to the program's future and draft a step-by-step modernization plan detailing how the team will fully retire their old system over the next two years.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a Google IT systems administration, low-code development, or data architecture.
  • Strong, practical experience building automated business solutions using Google tools (specifically advanced Google Sheets, AppSheet, Looker Studio, Google Forms, and Google Apps Script).
  • Secret clearance is required.
  • Possess or successfully obtain an IAM Level I certification (such as CompTIA Security+) within 90 days of hire
  • Proven ability to build connected, efficient operational systems strictly using out-of-the-box software, rather than relying on custom standalone applications. Experience safely organizing, cleaning, and validating data during transitions from older databases into modern cloud formats.
  • Excellent ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff, write clear instructions, and confidently lead hands-on user training.
