Job Description

Duties

1. Makes complete travel arrangements for Permanent Change of Station (PCS) and Temporary Duty (TDY)
travelers.
2. Reviews travel orders and determines entitlements for active duty military, reserve component members,
Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, and dependents for worldwide travel to include remote and isolated sites.
3. Issues travel documentation.
4. Delivers passenger manifest and briefs on passenger and baggage count and weight.
5. Performs other clerical and administrative tasks in support of the transportation work.

  • Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid

  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station or military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays
  • May be required to participate in contingency situations, real world, and exercise, as directed
  • Position is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continues through full resumption of all functions

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level (or equivalent in other pay systems) in the federal service in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which includes ncludes providing transportation rules, procedures, or operations regarding entitlements and documentation requirements for domestic or foreign travel; advising passenger regarding travel entitlements to include allowance to temporary quarters, house hunting trips, administrative leave, transportation of dependents, reimbursable expenses, relocation services, shipments and storage of household goods, unaccompanied baggage, and all paperwork necessary to document travel and substantiate claims for reimbursement; counseling travelers on required documents most appropriate economical and advantageous routes and fares consistent with travel requirements and efficient transportation practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of an extensive body of transportation regulations, methods, and practices to perform a wide variety of travel assignments and resolve conflicts and problems.
  • Knowledge of transportation entitlements and documentation requirements for foreign and domestic relocation travel for the employee and their dependents in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulation and Joint Federal Travel Regulation.
  • Knowledge of a variety of types of passenger travel to arrange commercial, government owned, or contracted domestic and foreign travel.
  • Knowledge of passenger service center protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


  • PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
