Naval Architect - Position Description

We are seeking a talented Naval Architect to join our team supporting the PMS 300 Program Office in Washington, DC. Working closely with government stakeholders, shipyards, naval architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will support requirements development, systems integration, configuration management, and technical analyses involving HM&E systems, C4I capabilities, and mission equipment. Security Clearance:

• Applicant must hold or be able to obtain an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET personnel security clearance.

Position/Job Description:

In this role, you will provide systems engineering support across the design, integration, construction, modernization, and delivery of U.S. Navy maritime platforms and shipboard systems

General Tasking Description:

• Support development, design, integration, and production level engineering of ship design products in accordance with Government System Specification and ABS requirements.
• Develop alternatives within AutoCAD to demonstrate acceptable configurations for surface vessel arrangements.
• Manipulating 3D models of the vessel, effectively using software tools to evaluate interferences, equipment and material properties, and interfaces for personnel, equipment, structure, and outfitting.
• Leverage expertise to understand system(s) impacts to arrangements, identify solutions, and optimize useable space to solve arrangement challenges.
• Analyze ABS, MSC, and other contractual habitability requirements to assess impacts on overall design.
• Develop and review engineering documentation, technical reports, and system specifications.
• Coordinate technical design with government stakeholders, program offices, shipyards, and technical teams.
• Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and system assessments.

Experience Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience supporting DoD, Navy, or federal government programs.
  
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements management, and technical documentation development
  
• Familiarity with Navisworks and AutoCAD.
  
• Experience supporting acquisition, sustainment, modernization, or integration efforts for military systems.
  
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  
• Familiarity with US Navy systems.
  
• Ability to travel up to 25% to perform job duties.
  
• Experience supporting Commercial Ship Building programs, Military Sealift Command Shipbuilding programs, or Coast Guard ship building programs.
  
• Experience working with MSC and associated habitability/operations requirements.

Educational & Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Naval Architecture, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline is preferred but can be waved with 10 Years of experience.
