Position Summary
PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector III to support inspection and quality assurance activities in Sterling, Virginia. This role is responsible for performing complex inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) on a variety of components and systems, ensuring products meet stringent quality standards before delivery to customers. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical inspection skills, the ability to interpret engineering documentation, and a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, gauges, and calipers.
- Read, interpret, and apply quality procedures, engineering drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Conduct receiving, in-process, and final inspections of manufactured, assembled, and tested hardware and components.
- Utilize computer systems and quality databases, including SAP and engineering information systems, to document and perform inspection activities.
- Verify work order documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Conduct visual and physical inspections of units, assemblies, and subassemblies.
- Perform unit shakedowns to identify foreign objects, loose hardware, or abnormal conditions.
- Maintain and manage inspection records and quality documentation.
- Conduct Preliminary Material Reviews (PMR) as required.
- Support third-party source inspections.
- Perform additional quality assurance duties as assigned.
- Travel occasionally to customer sites (approximately 5%, including overnight travel of up to one week).
- High School Diploma, GED, or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant quality inspection experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Experience using precision inspection and measurement tools.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Must successfully complete a post-offer vision examination, including visual acuity and color vision requirements.
- Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- 5+ years of experience as a Quality Inspector in lieu of formal education.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with SAP, engineering information systems, and quality documentation processes.
- Knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and inspection standards.
