Program Overview

Command support to all U.S. Army forces in South Korea. Key roles hired for the mission include cyber specialists, IT engineers, network engineers, and operations planners.

About The Role

Welcome to United States Forces Korea (USFK) and U.S. Eighth Army G6. Our mission is to deter aggression and if necessary, defend the Republic of Korea (ROK) to maintain stability in Northeast Asia. The Service Members of the United States and the Republic of Korea have stood together for more than 60 years maintaining the Armistice and setting the conditions for stability and prosperity in the Republic of Korea. We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Cyber Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Monitors, analyzes, and detects cyber events and incidents within information systems and networks under general supervision.
• Assists with integrated, dynamic cyber defense, coordinates and maintains security toolsets to support organizations' continuous monitoring and ongoing authorization programs.
• Establishes a framework by which cyber risk can be measured and quantified in the marketplace.
• Determines security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates.
• Implements security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation.
• Verifies security systems by developing and implementing test scripts.
• Maintains security by monitoring and ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; developing and conducting training programs.
• Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and integration of DoD IA architectures, systems, or system components for use within computing, network, and enclave environments.
• Ensures that the architecture and design of development and operational systems are functional and secure. This includes designs for programs of record systems and special purpose processing nodes with platform IT interconnectivity.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or closely related field.
• At least four years' experience supporting Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) and/or network systems and technology, including operation, system administration and sustainment of the U.S. Army Endpoint Security System/Host Based Security System (AESS/HBSS).
• DoD 8570.01-M/DoD 8140 Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) Level II certification (one of them):
• Security+ (CASP)
• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
• Cyber Security Analyst (CySA+)
• Demonstrated understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts within cyberspace operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering senior leader and executive level briefings, position papers, and white papers.
• Prior experience coordinating plans with multinational coalition partners, specifically the Republic of Korea (ROK) military forces.

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
