Position Title: I&C Project Engineer - Nuclear Power
Pay Rate: competitive - depending on experience
Location: Mineral VA

Top Must Haves:

• Typical 40 hours per week (4x10s or 5x8s) with option of one remote day per week.
• Up to 72 hours per week during refueling outages, day or night shift, outage schedule to fit needs of assigned work/project.
• 5+ years Electrical/I&C Engineering experience - ideally in nuclear or power generation.
• Nuclear plant experience - understanding of plant design, systems, components, and engineering/design changes.
• Electrical power systems expertise - relay logic/protection, electrical schematics, circuit design, and load calculations.
• Engineering change/design experience - specifications, calculations, technical evaluations, and design change packages.
• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or comparable engineering degree meeting ANSI requirements.
• Biggest differentiator: Experience serving as a Lead/Responsible Engineer (RE) on nuclear electrical/I&C projects.

Project Overview: This individual will serve as the Lead/Responsible Engineer (RE) for several major equipment replacement projects, including the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR), Generator Protection Relays, Main Generator, and Exciter. The engineer will work closely with station stakeholders, project managers, engineering disciplines, equipment suppliers, and external engineering resources throughout design development and implementation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead development and implementation of electrical/I&C design changes.
• Prepare and review engineering change packages, specifications, calculations, and technical evaluations.
• Review vendor drawings, test plans, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate technical reviews across engineering teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.
• Provide oversight for Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT).
• Support construction, field implementation, design updates, and technical issue resolution.
• Oversee contracted engineering work and ensure compliance with applicable nuclear and industry standards.
• Track engineering deliverables and provide project status updates.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of electrical/I&C engineering experience; nuclear or power-generation experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline.
• Experience with power systems, relay logic/protection, electrical schematics, circuit design, and engineering calculations.
• Strong technical/specification writing and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering codes, regulations, and standards.
• Ability to lead and collaborate across multi-disciplinary team

Preferred Experience/Skills:

• Nuclear power plant design and systems experience.
• 10 CFR 50.59 and/or Nuclear Standard Design Process experience.
• Experience with DCS, PLCs, Industrial Control Systems, and generator/control systems.
• Experience with ETAP, MATLAB, Excel, or similar engineering tools.
• Previous power utility experience.
• PE license, SRO/STA, or other nuclear qualifications are a plus.
