As an operator of Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, MITRE staff are tasked with applying their skills to impact programmatic and technical decisions of highest importance to the nation. The Advanced Wireless & SATCOM Department, part of MITRE's Technology and Engineering Infrastructure, Networking, and Communications Division, provides premier communications engineering, wireless networking, SATCOM, spectrum, and technical analysis expertise for our customers at all classification levels.

We seek to expand our department with a senior technical leader capable of contributing to MITRE's support of Army's high visibility projects. Staff will work with sponsors to develop, analyze, test, and evaluate communication systems that support the Army's tactical exploitation of national capabilities.

This position is focused on research, design, analysis, evaluation, technical leadership, and sponsor decision support. It does not involve administering, operating, troubleshooting, or maintaining a production communications network.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide long-term sponsor facing trusted-advisor support to the analysis, development, fielding, sustainment and operational employment of RF/Communication Systems capabilities.
• Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting complex communications hardware/software/system integration issues in lab, field, or operational environments.
• Assist the sponsor in their role of managing a portfolio of legacy and new start communications/IT systems and services to include overseeing and participating in technical and operational assessments.
• Collaborate with mission stakeholders, assess requirements and identify gaps. Develop and recommend near-term mitigations and long-term strategies for requirements gaps, acquisitions, and operational issues.
• Lead and participate in root-cause analyses (and other analyses) of communications failures impacting the classified mission areas to include follow on actions designed to mitigate future failures.
• Analyze and characterize complex RF signals, modulation schemes, signal structures, and communications protocols.
• Work directly with sponsors to develop requirements and communicate analytical results, findings, and recommendations.
• Analyze and evaluate new RF/Communication system technologies that could address future mission challenges.

Basic Qualifications:

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; of a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently investigate complex technical problems and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with government leadership and classified mission partners.
• Proficiency in written communications skills. Must work collaboratively within a team, provide senior level leadership and guidance, and be capable of identifying, prioritizing, and solving difficult problems.
• Must have an active Top Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
• This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or related discipline with 7+ years relevant experience.
• Requires minimum 8 years in RF/Communication systems analysis and signal processing.
• Demonstrated ability in analyzing satellite communication systems, waveforms, technologies, and other specialized communication systems.
• Experience in analyzing new waveform techniques from concept to operational state.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills for interaction with customers, project leaders, team members, and other government agencies.
• Must have the ability to coordinate across teams and with representatives from a wide range of organizations including government, commercial, and international.
• This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$173,200 - $216,500 - $259,800 Annual
