Senior R&D Electrical Engineer

Radiance Technologies is seeking a Senior R&D Electrical Engineer to support ongoing research and development programs in areas including directed energy, pulsed power, energy storage, and related technologies. This is a full-time position based at a Radiance's headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama.

This position involves fast-paced, hands-on work in a laboratory environment with a highly multidisciplinary team. The selected candidate will work closely with electrical, mechanical, computer, and other engineering disciplines, as well as engineering technicians, to design, build, integrate, and test advanced electrical systems and supporting technologies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical/electronics engineering background with demonstrated experience across the engineering design lifecycle, including requirements development, trade studies, analytical calculations, schematic design, printed circuit board design, hardware integration, and testing.

The selected candidate will be expected to independently lead electrical hardware development efforts involving analog and digital circuitry, mixed-signal PCB design, embedded electronics, and system integration. The position also requires the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, conduct system-level testing, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to integrate electrical hardware into larger high-power microwave (HPM), pulsed-power, and related systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field

• 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience (A Master's in STEM will substitute for 2 years of experience)

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

• Demonstrated experience with electrical hardware design through multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle

• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design/layout for analog, digital, or mixed-signal electronics

• Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging

• Working knowledge of EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, and electrical design practices

• Ability to independently solve technical problems and work effectively within a multidisciplinary R&D team

• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field

• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience

• Experience with Altium Designer or comparable schematic capture and PCB layout tools

• Experience with circuit analysis, modeling, or simulation tools such as LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar

• Experience with high-speed digital and mixed-signal PCB design practices

• Experience designing or working with high-voltage systems, including creepage, clearance, insulation, and material-selection considerations

• Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and C/C++ development

• Experience designing or integrating digital communication interfaces

• Experience with EMI/EMC testing, troubleshooting, or mitigation

• Experience supporting pulsed-power, directed-energy, RF, or other specialized R&D systems

• Experience leading technical efforts or mentoring junior engineers

• Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
