Federal Accounting, Controls & Asset Accountability Specialist

Join Deloitte's Finance Transformation practice and help federal clients strengthen finance operations through accounting, internal controls, audit readiness, asset accountability, and data analysis. In this role, you will support finance modernization efforts for government organizations while working across financial management, process improvement, and technology-enabled transformation. You'll collaborate with teams helping chief financial officers, controllers, and finance organizations address evolving operational and regulatory demands.

Work you'll do

As a part of our Controllership and Treasury Transformation team, you will be responsible for supporting federal accounting, financial controls, audit readiness, asset accountability, and financial data analysis activities.

• Support federal financial management activities, including accounting operations and application of Federal Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Perform analyses involving general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and chart of accounts structures
• Assist with internal controls, audit readiness, Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation (FIAR), and Federal Information System Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM)-aligned activities
• Support work related to property, plant, and equipment (PP&E), operating materials and supplies (OM&S), internal use software (IUS), inventory, and asset accountability
• Conduct data validation, control testing, reporting, and Structured Query Language (SQL)-based analysis to support client objectives

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree
• Active Secret, Top Secret, Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI), or TS/SCI with Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph security clearance
• 1+ years of experience in 1 or more of the following: federal financial management and Federal Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and chart of accounts; internal controls, audit readiness, Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation (FIAR), or Federal Information System Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM); property, plant, and equipment (PP&E), operating materials and supplies (OM&S), internal use software (IUS), inventory, or asset accountability; Structured Query Language (SQL), reporting, data validation, or control testing; or supply chain, logistics, or materials management
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

• 1+ years of experience supporting federal government clients
• Experience with enterprise resource planning systems, financial reporting tools, or data analysis platforms
• Experience working in a consulting or project-based delivery environment

This compensation range is specific to Virginia and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,100 to $155,100.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
