Job Description
As a member of the SW/GNC Department you’ll get to work on the Glide Phase Interceptor Program. This position will serve on-site at 1575 S. Price Rd, Chandler, AZ 85286.
Responsibilities
Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.
Basic Qualifications for Engineer Guidance Navigation Control 3
· Experience with Kalman Filtering
· Experience with signal processing for guided missiles and/or interceptors.
· Proficiency in creating and maintaining algorithms and analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python
· Strong foundation in probability theory / statistics
· Experience with Electro-Optical imaging systems
· Travel 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications for Engineer Guidance Navigation Control 3
· Advanced degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or applied math
· Experience with onboard/offboard sensor fusion
· Experience with analyzing large Monte Carlo data sets and/or experience with designing and analyzing simulation experiments
This position is intended to be contracted to hire. While this is our intent, this is not a promise to hire by Northrop Grumman. This contract position aligns with our full-time role of State Estimation and Tracking Sr. Principal Engineer.
