Position Overview
Our client is seeking a talented Software Engineer to support the development of advanced software solutions focused on cloud technologies, big data platforms, artificial intelligence, and machine learning initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-focused programs within a collaborative Agile environment, developing innovative solutions that address complex technical challenges.
The ideal candidate is a motivated software engineer with experience building and supporting enterprise applications, integrating modern technologies, and working across multidisciplinary teams.
This position follows a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of three days onsite per week in Northern Virginia.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications
- Analyze business and technical requirements to create effective software solutions
- Evaluate system requirements and determine technical feasibility of proposed approaches
- Support the modernization and enhancement of existing applications and services
- Develop automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency
- Create and maintain system architecture, integration, and data flow documentation
- Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and status reporting
- Troubleshoot software issues and implement sustainable solutions
- Collaborate with engineering teams, stakeholders, and end users to deliver high-quality capabilities
- Present technical updates and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance and successfully complete a CI Polygraph
- 3+ years of experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise software systems
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and JavaScript
- Experience maintaining and enhancing existing software applications
- Experience with DevSecOps tools and processes, including platforms such as GitLab and Jira
- Experience developing architecture diagrams, system designs, and data flow documentation
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Experience working within Linux environments and developing scripts
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and evolving mission requirements
- Ability to travel occasionally within the United States (less than 10%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Security+ or other DoD 8570-compliant certification
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise systems and distributed applications
- Experience with React or other modern front-end frameworks
- Experience with automation technologies such as Ansible
- Experience with big data technologies including Airflow, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Django, or similar platforms
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments
- Experience supporting Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning initiatives
- Experience with GIS data, computer vision, computer graphics, or CUDA programming
- Experience supporting Department of Defense programs or federal customers
