Job Description
Junior Data Visualization Developer
Clearance: Public Trust
Location: Washington, DC – potentially 5 days onsite
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and maintain data visualizations, interactive dashboards, self service reporting environments, and intuitive user interfaces.
Implement user friendly visual representations of complex datasets to support customer decision making and analytical needs.
Write new programs based on specifications provided by engineers, architects, or senior developers.
Update, repair, modify, and enhance existing applications and visual components.
Conduct routine coding, debugging, testing, and documentation activities in alignment with established development standards.
Maintain the accuracy, security, and overall integrity of data across visualization workflows.
Collaborate with data analysts, business stakeholders, and other developers to understand data context and requirements.
Assist in identifying the most effective methods for presenting information to end users.
Support the communication of technical concepts in a clear, user focused manner.
Required Qualifications:
1–2 years in programming, data visualization, or related technical roles.
Ability to execute routine development tasks with guidance.
Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience with Tableau or Power BI to build basic dashboards.
Basic SQL for querying and validating data.
Intro to intermediate experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS; exposure to AngularJS or libraries like D3.js, Chart.js, or jQuery.
Ability to turn raw data into simple charts and dashboards.
Understanding of UI/UX basics—clean layouts, readability, accessibility.
Familiarity with structured/unstructured data (e.g., relational tables, JSON, Parquet).
Strong communication and teamwork skills; comfort working in cross functional environments.
Awareness of data accuracy, integrity, and security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding with SAP BusinessObjects for Reporting
Basic Programming and query languages: SQL, Python
Education:
Associate’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Public Trust clearance is required.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
