Job Description
L3Harris is seeking a Specialist, Quality Engineer to support the Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF-North) in Toney, Alabama, an inert manufacturing site for composite rocket motor hardware. The Specialist supports quality initiatives by coordinating quality-related activities, developing key metrics, dashboards, and reports, and collaborating across multiple Centers of Excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for continuous improvement. This role works cross-functionally to ensure product compliance and drive improvements in manufacturing and quality processes.
Essential Functions
• Use engineering knowledge to communicate with internal teams and customer counterparts to ensure hardware meets specifications.
• Manage and communicate deviations and nonconformances across the organization; understand and explain typical aerospace processes such as machining, welding, and nondestructive testing.
• Apply quality principles, concepts, and methods-including Lean and basic Six Sigma tools-to support manufacturing operations.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards to ensure compliance.
• Prepare analyses, procedures, reports, and presentations for internal and customer review; verify supplier-submitted data for completeness and accuracy.
• Interface with the Material Review Board (MRB) to provide technical input for nonconformance dispositions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of related quality or engineering experience; OR Graduate Degree with 0-2 years of related experience; OR in lieu of a degree, 6 years of quality or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and strong communication abilities.
• Knowledge of AS9100 quality management and auditing practices.
• Experience with statistical analysis and risk-based quality tools.
• Project management and customer-focused collaboration experience.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Commitment to continuous learning and ethical decision-making.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
