Senior Software Simulation Engineer

Overview:
By Light is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Simulation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, simulation, and modeling, with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions for complex systems. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement simulation tools and frameworks that support our clients' mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain software simulation tools and frameworks for complex systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and domain experts to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Implement and optimize simulation algorithms, including discrete-event simulation, Monte Carlo methods, and agent-based modeling.
• Integrate simulation tools with existing systems and platforms, ensuring compatibility and performance.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of simulation models to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Document simulation methodologies, assumptions, and results for client delivery and internal reference.
• Provide technical support and training to clients and internal teams on simulation tools and processes.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in simulation technology and methodologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on simulation and modeling.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
• Experience with simulation frameworks and tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink, SimPy, or AnyLogic.
• Strong understanding of simulation methodologies, including discrete-event simulation, Monte Carlo methods, and agent-based modeling.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Security clearance: Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with real-time simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
• Knowledge of system engineering principles and model-based design.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
