ETL Data Migration Engineer Sr.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an ETL Data Migration Engineer Senior to support a company focused on federal modernization, cloud transformation, and mission-critical technology initiatives. This position is on-site in Huntsville, AL.

The ETL Data Migration Engineer Senior will design, optimize, and support high-volume ETL/ELT pipelines responsible for moving complex datasets from legacy systems into secure cloud environments. This is an opportunity to play a key technical role in modernizing critical government systems by improving the performance, reliability, and quality of large-scale data migration operations supporting high-impact national missions.

Responsibilities for the ETL Data Migration Engineer Senior include:

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines used to extract, transform, and migrate high-volume structured and unstructured datasets into cloud environments
• Build and automate data workflows focused on pipeline performance, throughput, resiliency, error handling, and repeatable migration execution
• Troubleshoot ETL pipeline failures and data anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions to improve data quality and operational reliability
• Collaborate with cloud engineers, data engineers, DBAs, DevSecOps, QA, and product teams to validate integration points and ensure migration pipelines align with target architectures
• Develop and maintain data mappings, transformation specifications, process documentation, performance metrics, error logs, and other technical artifacts supporting migration operations

Required Qualifications for the ETL Data Migration Engineer Senior include:

• 8+ years of experience in ETL/ELT development, data engineering, data integration, or enterprise-scale data migration, with a Bachelor's degree required
• Strong hands-on experience designing and operating ETL/ELT pipelines, automation frameworks, and high-volume data processing workflows
• Experience extracting data from legacy systems, transforming multiple data formats, and ingesting data into cloud-based target environments
• Strong scripting, troubleshooting, pipeline diagnostics, and root cause analysis experience within complex data environments
• Must have an Active Top Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications for the ETL Data Migration Engineer Senior include:

• Experience supporting petabyte-scale data migrations, multi-system consolidation, or large-scale federal modernization initiatives
• Experience developing or operating ETL/ELT pipelines within AWS or other cloud environments
• Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, distributed data processing, and automated testing
• Advanced scripting and automation experience using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar technologies
• Experience supporting DOJ, FBI, Intelligence Community, or other national security programs

Compensation for the ETL Data Migration Engineer Senior includes:

Salary Range: Competitive salary depending on experience
