Data Migration Engineer Sr.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Data Migration Engineer Senior to support a company focused on federal modernization, cloud transformation, and mission-critical technology initiatives. This position is on-site in Huntsville, AL.

The Data Migration Engineer Senior will lead complex data extraction, transformation, validation, and migration efforts supporting the transition of high-volume datasets from legacy systems into secure cloud environments. This is an opportunity to play a key technical role in modernizing critical government systems while leading advanced ETL/ELT, data quality, and migration initiatives supporting high-impact national missions.

Responsibilities for the Data Migration Engineer Senior include:

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines supporting large-scale migration of structured and unstructured data from legacy systems into modern cloud environments
• Develop complex data mapping, transformation, cleansing, and validation processes while identifying and resolving data integrity, quality, and performance issues
• Collaborate with cloud, DevSecOps, data engineering, QA, and product teams to coordinate migration readiness, integration testing, and legacy system transition activities
• Provide technical guidance to mid-level engineers while improving migration automation, reusable processes, troubleshooting procedures, and overall pipeline performance
• Develop and maintain migration specifications, data mappings, technical documentation, operational metrics, and procedures in accordance with federal data governance and security requirements

Required Qualifications for the Data Migration Engineer Senior include:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in data migration, ETL/ELT development, data integration, or large-scale data engineering, with a Bachelor's degree required
• Advanced experience designing, developing, and operating ETL/ELT pipelines for complex structured and unstructured datasets
• Strong experience with data mapping, transformation, cleansing, validation, data quality, and troubleshooting within high-volume migration environments
• Experience with cloud-based data migration, automation, scripting, and/or big data technologies, with AWS experience preferred
• Must have an Active Top Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications for the Data Migration Engineer Senior include:

• Experience supporting petabyte-scale migrations, enterprise data modernization, or multi-system consolidation initiatives
• Experience supporting DOJ, FBI, Intelligence Community, or other national security programs
• Familiarity with DevSecOps environments, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-native data services
• Advanced experience with scripting languages, distributed data processing technologies, or cloud-native ETL tools

Compensation for the Data Migration Engineer Senior includes:

Salary Range: Competitive salary depending on experience
