Everforth ECS is seeking a Scientific Applications Programmer to work in Stennis, MS. May entertain remote work as well if not in MS.
This is an entry level position for a Scientific Applications Programmer at the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), which is a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) program. NDBC is responsible for a global network of buoys that provide data used for real-time weather observations, forecasting, climate forecasting, and tsunami warnings. The successful Scientific Applications Programmer candidate will help develop and maintain software solutions used to receive, quality check, distribute, and archive data from NDBC's global network of buoys. The individual will help drive the solutions for the next generation of NDBC's IT systems.

Everforth ECS is seeking a Scientific Applications Programmer to work in Stennis, MS. May entertain remote work as well if not in MS.
This is an entry level position for a Scientific Applications Programmer at the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), which is a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) program. The successful Scientific Applications Programmer candidate will help develop and maintain software solutions used to receive, quality check, distribute, and archive data from NDBC's global network of buoys. The individual will help drive the solutions for the next generation of NDBC's IT systems.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C#).
- Proficiency in modern web development frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or Angular) and RESTful APIs.
- Good foundation in database design, SQL, and data modeling.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented/functional design
- Fundamental understanding of core cloud concepts such as storage, basic networking, serverless compute, and hosted databases.
- Experience using AI coding assistants or agentic frameworks is considered a plus.
- Familiarity with Git and standard pull request workflows.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and collaborative problem-solving within a team.
- Comfortable working across various operating environments (Linux/Windows).
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders
- Must be able to successfully complete a NOAA (Stennis Space Center)/NASA background investigation for site/system access.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Note: US Citizenship or a valid Green Card is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
