Senior AI Software Developer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior AI Software Developer to support a company focused on modernizing and advancing national air traffic management systems through next-generation automation, cloud, and AI-enabled technologies. This position is on-site in Gaithersburg, MD or Egg Harbor Township, NJ . The Senior AI Software Developer will serve as a technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and modernizing mission-critical microservices-based software solutions within a large Agile/SAFe environment. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact the reliability and performance of systems supporting millions of air travelers across the United States while leveraging modern AI-assisted development practices.

Responsibilities for the Senior AI Software Developer include:

• Lead Agile sprint planning, technical execution, and team collaboration efforts to ensure successful delivery of software solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices-based applications using modern software engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, product owners, DevSecOps, QA, and architecture teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Develop and integrate APIs, databases, messaging systems, and event-driven services within distributed environments.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance coding efficiency, software quality, debugging, testing, and system reliability.

Required Qualifications for the Senior AI Software Developer include:

• 8+ years of experience developing and supporting enterprise software applications and distributed systems.
• Experience building microservices-based architectures using Java, Python, C++, or similar technologies within Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, Agile methodologies, and software development best practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Compensation for the Senior AI Software Developer include:

Salary Range: $107,900 - $195,050 depending on experience
