Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Network Monitoring: Watch network traffic and logs for unusual activity, security threats, or performance issues.
Vulnerability Assessment: Run security scans and penetration tests to find weak spots in servers, routers, and firewalls.
Incident Response: Act as an early responder to investigate network breaches, contain threats, and fix system flaws.
Policy Compliance: Ensure all hardware, software, and configurations match internal security rules and government standards (such as HIPAA or NIST).
System Maintenance: Install security patches, configure firewalls, and update encryption protocols without hurting daily network operations.
Required Skills
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, and LAN/WAN setups.
Security Tools: Experience with intrusion detection systems (like Snort), vulnerability scanners (like Nmap), and SIEM platforms.
Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose complex network outages or security tool failures quickly.
Communication: Skill in explaining technical risks and metrics clearly to managers and non-technical staff
Qualifications and Education
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: 3 to 5+ years working in IT systems administration, network operations, or cybersecurity.
Certifications: Preferred credentials include CISSP, CISA or CEH. Required CompTIA Security+
