Software Engineering Manager - uAS

COLSA Corporation is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our UAS Software team. This role will provide technical direction, manage team workloads and projects, oversee ongoing software sustainment, and coordinate software issue resolution and new release development to support our current DoD UAS program.

General Summary

• Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)
• Responsible for the direct supervision and management of the Software Engineering activities
• Provides direct supervision, technical leadership, and management of Software Engineering personnel supporting UAS programs.
• Organizes and prioritizes project and task workloads, assigns resources, and monitors progress to meet program schedules and technical objectives.
• Directs software engineering activities across development, integration, testing, troubleshooting, sustainment, and release efforts.
• Provides technical direction and guidance to engineers working on complex software applications and UAS-related systems.
• Oversees ongoing software sustainment activities, including integration of new capabilities.
• Coordinates the investigation and resolution of software issues.
• Plans and coordinates software releases, ensuring development activities are aligned with program requirements.
• Reviews and assesses the results of technical projects and software engineering activities within the area of responsibility.
• Maintains working knowledge of standard desktop applications, including word processing programs

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or another related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five years applicable software engineering experience, including supervision or management experience
• Strong working knowledge of Java and C++.
• Hands-on experience with database scripting, SQL databases, and XML.
• Demonstrated experience with network programming using RPC, ZMQ, RTSP, or similar technologies.
• Working knowledge of data broker and messaging technologies, such as MQTT.
• Understanding of IoT technologies and related architectures.
• Experience with UAS technologies, including MAVLink, radio control systems, GPS, and payload integration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance required; U.S. citizenship required.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with sUAS software
• Previous experience as a Senior software developer or Product Owner
