Job Description
McLaughlin Research Corp has an opening for a CAD Specialist to support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport RI. The CAD Specialist supports facility and space-management operations by maintaining accurate building, room, workspace, and occupancy data within the Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS). This position updates shared floor plans based on completed projects, posts revised drawings for team use, maintains department custodianship records, and promotes high-quality asset and space data.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review completed construction, renovation, and workspace projects and incorporate updates into shared floor plans.
• Read, edit, maintain, and publish CAD floor plans for organizational use.
• Update space assignments, department custodianship, building assets, room information, and occupancy records in Archibus IWMS.
• Conduct routine in-person field verification to confirm floor-plan layouts, workspace configurations, occupancy information, and recently renovated desk labels.
• Maintain data hygiene by identifying, correcting, and reconciling inaccurate, incomplete, duplicate, or outdated building and room records.
• Use AutoCAD and the Archibus SmartClient extension to post drawing updates and system corrections.
Job Requirements:
• Ability to read, interpret, and edit architectural floor plans.
• At least one year of experience with AutoCAD and CAD-based floor-plan management workflows.
• Experience with Archibus IWMS and the AutoCAD SmartClient extension preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, data-management discipline, and ability to identify discrepancies between system records and physical conditions.
• Ability to conduct in-person site walkthroughs and document verified changes accurately.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize recurring updates, and support a collaborative space-management team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience with Archibus or another Integrated Workplace Management System.
• Experience supporting space management, facilities management, real-property data, workplace planning, or building-asset records.
• Familiarity with CAD/BIM standards, occupancy tracking, workspace labeling, and data-quality assurance processes
