Enterprise Unified Communications Engineer
Onsite Annapolis Junction, MD | US Citizenship Required | Travel (less than 10%)

Responsibilities
As an Enterprise Unified Communications Engineer, you will drive the engineering, cross-platform integration, and modernization of the organization's voice, video, real-time messaging, and conferencing infrastructure. Expanding beyond single-vendor administration, this role focuses on engineering seamless interoperability across disparate collaboration ecosystems—connecting legacy architectures like Skype for Business, Cisco Jabber, and traditional VTC endpoints with modern cloud services like Microsoft Teams using gateway and bridge technologies such as Pexip. You will diagnose complex signaling, media flow, SIP protocol, and authentication challenges across network and endpoint boundaries while building automated, high-availability communication pipelines. Partnering closely with network, security, and cloud engineering teams, you will evolve the enterprise communications framework into a unified, resilient, and frictionless user experience.
Requirements
-Hands-on experience engineering, administering, or supporting Skype for Business or equivalent enterprise collaboration platforms.
-Solid mastery of core UC modalities, including voice topology, video bridging, presence services, instant messaging, and multi-party conferencing.
-Understanding of how real-time communication platforms integrate with network fabrics, identity providers, authentication protocols, and endpoint systems.
-Strong analytical capabilities to perform end-to-end troubleshooting across network, application, and platform layers.
-Demonstrated aptitude and willingness to master emerging communications platforms, gateway architectures, and interoperability tools.
-Ability to take direct ownership of complex technical issues and drive resolution independently within fast-paced environments.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across technical teams and stakeholder groups.
Preferred Qualifications
-Hands-on experience integrating Microsoft Teams with legacy or third-party UC solutions and gateway services.
-Proficiency with Pexip or similar video conferencing interoperability and bridging technologies.
-Experience supporting Cisco Jabber, Webex, and enterprise instant messaging architectures.
-Background maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise Video Teleconferencing (VTC) rooms, codecs, and endpoints.
-Strong grasp of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Session Border Controllers (SBCs), enterprise voice routing, and telephony integrations.
-Demonstrated success bridging disparate voice, video, presence, and conferencing platforms into a unified ecosystem.
-Familiarity with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and associated collaboration suites.
-Skill in using PowerShell, REST APIs, or scripting tools to automate provisioning and UC platform management.
-Experience supporting real-time communications infrastructure across geographically dispersed enterprise environments.
Education/Certification Requirements
-Level II 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
