Job Description
Receive, store, and inventory equipment, and prepare items for transfer between the Group and its subordinate units.
• Complete and retain custody documentation for receipts, transfers, losses, damage, beyond-economical-repair determinations, and maintenance induction.
• Coordinate retrograde of equipment going out for commercial repair or calibration — prepare, package, and ship to manufacturer and warranty specification, track status through the repair cycle, and receive items properly on return.
• Run day-to-day stowage operations: receipt processing, requisitioning, storage, and on-load and off-load.
• Identify hazardous material, coordinate with the command HAZMAT certifier, and handle, package, and store it in accordance with Federal, DoD, and Navy environmental and safety requirements.
• Operate Government material handling equipment — hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts up to 12,000-pound capacity.
• Maintain the warehouse and workspaces to safety and cleanliness standards, including outward-facing location labeling, heavy items stowed low, and aisles kept clear at a minimum 30-inch width.
• Secure office spaces, roll-up doors, gear cages, and storage at the end of each workday.
What You Need
• Two or more years of warehouse, material handling, or shipping and receiving experience in a Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, or comparable environment.
• Valid state driver’s license and a current OSHA-approved forklift operator license or certificate, fully qualified on forklifts up to 12,000-pound capacity. This certification is required at hire.
• Working knowledge of requisitioning, receipt processing, stowage, on-load and off-load, transportation, and hazardous material handling and storage requirements.
• Comfortable with basic Microsoft Office and with entering transactions accurately in a Government inventory system.
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently at a single site.
