Engineering Operations Lead
Onsite Annapolis Junction, MD | US Citizenship Required | Travel (less than 10%)
Clearance level: Active TS/SCI with Poly
Summary
Our client is a leading provider of technology and mission services to the U.S. government and commercial clients. They deliver innovative solutions in cloud, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital modernization, and mission support.
Responsibilities
The Engineering Operations Lead functions as a strategic force multiplier and key operational partner to senior directorate leadership across a global engineering organization. Acting as the operational nexus connecting executive leadership, cross-functional engineering pods, security accreditation bodies, and workforce management, this role establishes structural clarity and drives execution across competing priorities. You will synthesize organizational metrics into unified leadership dashboards, streamline clearance and privileged-access workflows, orchestrate technical staffing and onboarding pipelines, and track high-level action items to completion. By anticipating structural friction, identifying operational gaps, and maintaining seamless cross-departmental communication, you ensure engineering units remain fully resourced, aligned, and optimized to execute mission-critical objectives.
Requirements
-Proven background steering operational workflows, directorate initiatives, workforce requirements, or technical programs within complex enterprise environments.
-Exceptional organizational skills to balance parallel priorities, align cross-functional dependencies, and drive complex tasks to resolution.
-Track record of collaborating effectively across executive directorates, engineering leads, security officials, and administrative partners.
-Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex operational updates into concise, actionable summaries for leadership.
-Hands-on experience building and maintaining operational matrices, executive dashboards, milestone schedules, and action-item trackers.
-Uncompromising integrity and discretion when handling confidential personnel metrics, security clearances, and privileged access records.
-Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to rigorous follow-through and operational quality control.
-Self-directed initiative to anticipate organizational needs, resolve emergent friction, and drive forward progress without constant supervision.
-Ability to adapt and execute efficiently within high-velocity, geographically distributed operational settings.
Preferred Qualifications
-Background operating within a large-scale enterprise IT or technical directorate.
-Experience tracking clearance pipelines, privileged account access, or security compliance.
-Exposure to technical recruiting logistics, interview scheduling, workforce management, or onboarding workflows.
-Proficiency using ServiceNow, SharePoint, Teams, and Microsoft 365 platforms for operational tracking.
-Skill in creating high-level status briefings, operational dashboards, and directorate metrics.
-Track record of providing operational support to multiple senior executives or technical directors.
-Experience working within government, defense, or highly regulated environments.
Education/Certification Requirements
-Level II 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
Clearance Requirements
-Active TS/SCI w/Poly
