Standard Job Description

Conducts mission/program specific real time spacecraft/satellite flight operations during readiness, execution and evaluation phases. Develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, command and control of on-orbit satellites. Provides technical direction for on orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support. Provides failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites via telemetry data. Utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks and recommends improvements. Analyzes and validates software performance. Performs flight length orbit adjust and daily special event studies.

Basic Qualifications

• Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance
• Significant professional experience in satellite operations and orbital analysis AND/OR Bachelor's degree in an STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
• Experience with/knowledge of orbit determination/optimal estimation, maneuver generation and optimization, and Global Positioning System (GPS)/navigation in support of SBIRS constellation
• Experience with collision avoidance planning and maneuver generation
• Experience w/ OA software such as OASYS and/or STK
• Outstanding communications skills - Listening, verbal/non-verbal and written communications; ability to translate complex technical concepts/topics to personnel that are less knowledgeable and familiar with baseline system operations
• Must be comfortable briefing senior contract and government officials on highly technical engineering procedures and concepts
• Experience working hand-in-hand with an on-site customer
• Experience solving complex ground system issues and teaming with multiple partners to troubleshoot and solve problems
• Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision with the ability to function effectively in a rapidly changing environment
• Proficiency w/ Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong background in math/science

Desired Skills

• Skill in effectively responding to high-stress, real-time situations, and be able to properly prioritize, status, and work multiple tasks
• Familiarity w/ astrodynamics and orbital mechanics
• Basic proficiency in UNIX commands
• Proficiency in coding languages/tools such as MATLAB, Perl, HTML, and/or VBA
• Experience with/knowledge of spacecraft systems including Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C), propulsion, spacecraft communication systems, flight software

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00
