Systems Engineer

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is searching for a Systems Engineer to support United States Space Force (USSF) by developing software in support of Space Systems Command (SSC) Cyber Operations Branch rapid agile development of defensive cyber solutions to protect, defend, and respond to both ground and space based cyber adversarial threats. A successful candidate should be a leader and problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a fast-paced environment. Due to security requirements, work is required to be on-site in a government facility.

Responsibilities:

• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Conduct system modeling and analysis using modern MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw, SparxEA). Create and maintain digital models to support system design, integration, and testing.
• Requirements Development: Work closely with stakeholders to elicit, refine, and validate system requirements into structured models for clear traceability and impact analysis.
• System Design & Architecture: Develop functional, physical, and logical system architectures with precise documentation and modeling practices to ensure alignment with overall program goals utilizing MBSE languages like SysML, DoDAF, and UAF.
• Verification & Validation: Support verification of systems against modeled requirements and oversee integration testing to confirm performance and capability adherence.
• Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, testing, and operations) to enable seamless integration of digital engineering techniques throughout the project lifecycle.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization through digital tools and frameworks. Advocate for MBSE best practices to standardize engineering workflows.
• Technical Reporting & Communication: Prepare technical documentation, system engineering reports, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences, including stakeholders and senior leadership

Qualifications/Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, including 2+ years in MBSE within a defense or aerospace environment.
• Experience with USSF mission systems

Tools & Skills:

• Proficiency in MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Magic Model, SparxEA) and SysML, DODAF, and UAF or UML modeling .
• In-depth understanding of systems engineering lifecycle and methodologies such as Magic Grid and OOSEM (e.g., INCOSE standards).
• Familiarity with configuration management tools and systems modeling frameworks (e.g., Object-Oriented Systems Engineering Methodology (OOSEM), DoDAF, UAF).and collaboration spaces such as Teamwork Cloud and Collaborator
• Experience with space systems and space vehicles
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in Agile development environments leveraging digital twin and digital thread concepts and simulations.
• Knowledge of related domains (cybersecurity, space systems, sensor integration, etc.).
• Certifications such as INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, or equivalent MBSE certifications.

Security Clearance Level Required:

• Active Secret Clearance required. Top Secret/SCI highly desired.
• U.S. Citizenship is also required for this position.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $125,000/year to $155,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
