Job Description

Administrative Assistant / Helpdesk Technician

Fully Remote | $25/hour | Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM EST

Build Your Career in Government Contracting

New Editions Consulting is seeking an Administrative Assistant / Helpdesk Technician to support a federal government program involving medical providers and commercial operators.

This is more than a typical remote administrative position. You'll serve as an important point of contact for users of a proprietary government database, helping resolve technical questions, managing support requests, verifying credentials, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that issues are handled professionally and efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in federal government, government contracting, healthcare administration, customer support, or technical support who wants to build valuable experience in a professional environment.

What We Offer
  • $25/hour
  • Fully remote position
  • Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM EST
  • 6-month temp-to-hire opportunity
  • Opportunity to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Potential transition to full-time employment
  • Employees who transition to full-time employment become eligible for New Editions' full benefits package
  • Opportunity to gain experience supporting a federal government program
  • Prior remote work experience is not required
New Editions Consulting was recently recognized as the #2 Small Employer in WTOP's 2026 DC Top Workplaces rankings, based on employee feedback about their workplace experience.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for medical providers and commercial operators
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and support tickets
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and guide users through solutions
  • Determine when an issue can be resolved independently and when it should be escalated
  • Verify provider credentials and assist with onboarding
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Prepare reports and data pulls as needed
  • Manage multiple requests and priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Participate in team and client meetings
  • Assist with special projects and other administrative tasks
What We're Looking For

We are not limiting our search to traditional IT helpdesk candidates.

The ideal candidate may come from a variety of backgrounds, including:
  • Healthcare or hospital administration
  • Doctor's office or medical office support
  • Patient services or patient support
  • Call center or contact center
  • High-volume customer service
  • Technical/customer support
  • Administrative positions involving substantial phone interaction
  • Data entry and records management
  • Other fast-paced environments requiring organization, accuracy, and frequent communication
You will be successful in this position if you are:
  • A clear and professional communicator
  • Comfortable speaking with people by phone
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated and dependable
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Confident troubleshooting problems
  • Able to follow established procedures and directions
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a high-volume environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required for this opportunity

Candidates from the following states will be considered: Virginia, Maryland, DC, New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Ohio, Utah, South Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Connecticut, and Arizona.

Who Should Apply?

If you have experience helping customers, patients, providers, employees, or clients in a busy environment-and you're looking for an opportunity to develop your career in federal government contracting-this could be an excellent next step.

We're especially interested in candidates who are looking for a career opportunity rather than simply another remote job.
