Voucher Examiner

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Voucher Examiner to support a federal transportation program. This position is responsible for reviewing, validating, and processing financial vouchers, invoices, and reimbursement requests while ensuring compliance with federal financial regulations and agency policies.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting federal financial operations, invoice processing, voucher examination, or accounting functions within a government environment. This role is well-suited for professionals who thrive in structured, compliance-driven environments and enjoy working with financial documentation, audits, and cross-functional stakeholders. This is a 4 days a week onsite role in Ashburn, VA. Candidates must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Responsibilities

• Review vouchers, invoices, and reimbursement requests to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
• Validate labor charges, travel expenses, cost data, and supporting documentation against contract requirements and funding authorizations.
• Ensure submissions comply with applicable Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), agency policies, and financial management requirements.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audits.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, incomplete submissions, and documentation issues.
• Enter and maintain financial records within federal financial management systems.
• Track voucher status, maintain logs, and monitor processing timelines.
• Coordinate with Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs), Program Managers, financial analysts, vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Generate recurring and ad hoc financial reports to support program operations.
• Provide timely and professional communication regarding voucher processing requirements and status updates.
• Support continuous process improvement efforts to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Experience in federal financial management, voucher examination, invoice processing, accounts payable, or a related financial role.
• Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and federal financial management practices.
• Understanding of cost principles, labor categories, rate validation, and allowable cost rules.
• Experience reviewing financial documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data validation.
• Ability to maintain organized records and audit-ready documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting federal civilian agencies or transportation-related programs.
• Familiarity with federal financial systems such as Delphi, PRISM, FMIS, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of travel voucher regulations and reimbursement requirements.
• Experience supporting cost-reimbursable contracts and federal grant programs.
• Understanding of government auditing processes and compliance requirements.
• Experience working within highly regulated federal contracting environments.

Salary and Benefits Include:

• Salary Range: $65,000-70,000 **depending on experience**
