Duties


Help




  • Evaluate and counsel subordinate instructional and support staff on performance standards to identify training development needs.

  • Formulate annual performance appraisals, award recommendations, and professional development plans to address assessed employee weaknesses.

  • Schedule training courses, maintenance schedules, and administrative activities to ensure continuous operations of the academy.

  • Analyze training effectiveness using student feedback, customer critiques, and After Action Reviews to implement corrective measures.

  • Formulate annual obligation plans and unfunded requirements requests to secure necessary mission resources.

  • Justify annual budget requirements and potential resource reductions using recognized training models and impact assessments.

  • Coordinate interactions between training developers and doctrine writers to ensure training programs align with current military doctrine.

  • Draft long-range planning documents to align communication training programs with emerging technology and future operational trends.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

  • This position is subject to a pre-employment urinalysis screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

  • May require TDY travel CONUS and OCONUS up to 20% of the time

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:

  1. Directing the scheduling, curriculum delivery, and day-to-day administration of technical training programs to ensure organizational compliance with established educational standards;

  2. Delegating work assignments, setting priorities, and monitoring deadlines for a staff of technical instructors or training support specialists to maintain school operations;

    AND

  3. Formulating annual budget estimates, resource justification packages, or long-range training modernization plans to integrate emerging technology requirements into educational programs.



This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).



Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education
