THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (Title 32), Position Description Number D1259000 and is part of the RI Combined Support Maintenance Shop. The purpose of this position is to plan, schedule, control, and monitor the status of equipment maintenance; and to assist a higher-graded Production Controller.

DUTIES
Help

Conducts initial and long range planning pertaining to routine production processes, mechanical skills, availability of test and diagnostic equipment, repair parts, and other factors influencing the repair, modification, and maintenance of equipment and readiness reporting. Analyzes repair methods and recommends control procedures to ensure that accomplishment of programs meet priorities and deadlines established by higher authority or support activities. Coordinates with units and other support activities concerning the delivery, status of repair operations, and/or pick up of completed work orders. May provide day-to-day technical guidance to lower-graded personnel assisting in the maintenance production or maintenance management processes. Ensures necessary maintenance records are maintained and required reports are submitted to units and higher headquarters' in a timely manner. Establishes plans, schedules, and controls the maintenance and repair of a variety of vehicles and equipment such as combat vehicles, heavy-duty engineering and mobile equipment, tracked vehicles, towed and self-propelled artillery, communications and electronic equipment, guided missile systems, and small arms. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Rhode Island Army National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance designated at the State through the use of the Position Designation Tool.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; over/comp time may be required.
  • May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS

MILITARY GRADES:
E-4 through E-8

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS:
For Dual-Status Technician positions service affiliation under Title 32 USC 709 is required. Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience, education or training which indicates the candidate can reason in quantitative terms, communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, understanding the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and process characteristics of the production activity.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Experience, education or training working with people from various levels and backgrounds. Experience with a general knowledge of the functions and procedures of production control, records, references, and techniques for developing production control data. Experience assisting or maintaining workflow.

Education

Education may not be substituted for experience in this grade/occupational series combination.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Indefinite employment is defined as an excepted appointment with indefinite time limitations and is used when the appointment is expected to extend beyond one year. Should the need for the indefinite time limitations placed on this position no longer exist, the indefinite appointment could be converted to permanent action without further competition and you may be required to serve a trial period upon conversion.

If an applicant from the Competitive Service is selected, he or she will have to convert to the Excepted Service.
