Position Overview
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to support infrastructure and cloud operations at the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) facility in Clarksburg, West Virginia. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, networking, identity and access management, infrastructure operations, and DevOps practices, along with a strong willingness to learn and support both cloud and on-premises environments.
This role will work closely with infrastructure, systems, networking, and engineering teams to maintain reliable, secure, and highly available technology environments. The successful candidate should be comfortable working across cloud and traditional data-center technologies and be willing to assist with hardware, storage, virtualization, and backend infrastructure operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, services, configurations, and integrations.
Assist with cloud infrastructure deployment, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support.
Support enterprise networking infrastructure, including connectivity, routing, switching, DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, and network troubleshooting.
Work with infrastructure and security teams to troubleshoot connectivity and system-integration issues.
Apply knowledge of Single Sign-On (SSO) and identity/authentication concepts to support enterprise applications and infrastructure.
Participate in infrastructure automation and DevOps initiatives.
Support and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and assist development and infrastructure teams with deployment processes.
Collaborate with infrastructure personnel on on-premises hardware and software requirements.
Assist with installation, configuration, replacement, and troubleshooting of physical server and infrastructure equipment.
Develop a working understanding of VMware vSAN, virtualization, storage, and related backend infrastructure technologies.
Support server management and hardware administration functions, including technologies such as Dell iDRAC.
Assist with storage, compute, virtualization, and other data-center infrastructure management activities.
Troubleshoot infrastructure issues across cloud, network, operating-system, virtualization, and hardware layers.
Document infrastructure configurations, troubleshooting procedures, operational processes, and technical solutions.
Work collaboratively within a Scrum/Agile environment and participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and related team activities.
Follow established security, change-management, configuration-management, and operational procedures appropriate for the environment.
Learn new technologies and infrastructure platforms as required to support evolving mission and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
2–3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure cloud infrastructure.
2–3+ years of networking experience, with a solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts and troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of SSO, authentication, authorization, and identity-management concepts.
Experience troubleshooting technical issues across infrastructure and application environments.
Strong understanding of fundamental infrastructure concepts, including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and operating systems.
Ability and willingness to support on-premises infrastructure, including physical hardware and data-center technologies.
Ability to learn and work with technologies such as VMware vSAN, enterprise storage, virtualization, and Dell iDRAC.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with infrastructure, networking, security, application, and development teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a structured Agile/Scrum environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, Jenkins, GitLab, or similar CI/CD platforms.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep, or Ansible.
Experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or other scripting/automation technologies.
Experience supporting VMware environments, including vSAN.
Experience with enterprise storage and data-center infrastructure.
Experience with server hardware management technologies such as Dell iDRAC.
Experience working in a SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) environment.
Experience working in government, federal, public-sector, or other highly regulated environments.
