Software Engineer, Senior

Overview

The Software Engineer, Senior, will play a critical role in an agile software development team, driving cutting-edge software development and O&M support. This position requires adherence to agile methodologies and participation in Scrum ceremonies. The developer will design and implement backend APIs using Java and Spring Boot, create secure and responsive UIs using React, and develop optimized PostgreSQL schemas and queries. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, significant technical expertise, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale enterprise applications from concept to deployment

Responsibilities

• Provide full-stack design and development support utilizing Java, Spring MVC Framework/Security/Spring Boot, React, and PostgreSQL.
• Develop secure and scalable RESTful APIs to ensure seamless data access and system integration.
• Create modern, responsive UI components using React, TypeScript/JavaScript, and implement reusable design patterns.
• Implement normalized PostgreSQL schemas and entity relationships, promoting scalability and optimized performance.
• Support data migration efforts between legacy and modern systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
• Plan and execute application deployments via CI/CD pipelines, leveraging version control tools.
• Support all phases of project lifecycle development, ensuring compliance with enterprise security, 508 accessibility standards, and other mandated practices.
• Actively participate in agile methodologies, Scrum ceremonies, and team collaboration frameworks.
• Thoroughly document processes, including deployment strategies, migration plans, and system architecture designs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of professional experience as a full-stack developer or in a similar role.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Proficiency in Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence for project tracking and documentation.
• Demonstrated success in managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and automation processes.
• Strong skills in User Interface (UI) design and development, specifically using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and CSS.
• Advanced development expertise in backend technologies, including Java, Spring Framework/Security 6+, Spring Boot 3+, Hibernate 6+, SQL/PLSQL, PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, Maven build tools, and Git/GitLab.
• Significant experience with database design and data migration techniques.
• Proficiency in AWS technologies (S3, EC2, ECS, Aurora, CloudWatch).
• Experience with Keycloak, Kubernetes, Maven, Docker, and other modern development tools.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban frameworks.
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance required.
• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

• Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with diverse technical teams.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in dynamic project environments.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements, identify gaps, and coordinate with specialized teams to resolve them.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
