Software Engineer, Senior

Overview

The Software Engineer, Senior will collaborate closely with both government and contractor teams to support all aspects of the development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to production support. This role will have a strong foundation in Computer Science, demonstrated through either academic credentials or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze specifications and requirements from system stakeholders.
• Develop and deploy enhancements to address user needs and improve application functionality.
• Troubleshoot, resolve, and document system issues, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Manage system upgrades, ensuring compatibility with the latest tools, frameworks, and libraries.
• Participate in all stages of the project lifecycle, including planning, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting project deliverables.
• Design and implement solution architecture for new development efforts, including creating new fully functional full stack applications.
• Develop and optimize front-end and back-end functionalities using Java and JavaScript-based frameworks.
• Enhance system performance by identifying and addressing bottlenecks in the application architecture.
• Maintain code quality through unit and integration testing, as well as code review processes.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system owners, government stakeholders, and contractor teams, to align development with project goals.
• Ensure team compliance with standards and best practices for coding, security, and documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
• A minimum of 8+ years of relevant professional experience in software development.
• Strong experience with Java and JEE (Java Platform, Enterprise Edition) development.
• Proficient in JavaScript and Ajax.
• Hands-on expertise in Spring Boot and Spring Data JPA.
• Experience with Angular 14+.
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL database design and development.
• Proficiency with application servers such as Tomcat and JBoss.
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance is required.
• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Minimum Skills Required:

• Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with diverse technical teams.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in dynamic project environments.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements, identify gaps, and coordinate with specialized teams to resolve them.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Atlassian tool suite (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
• Knowledge of and experience working in Agile development methodologies.
