Job Title: Tactical SATCOM Engineer (TESA)
Location: Landstuhl, Germany

Job Responsibilities

The Tactical SATCOM Engineer will include but is not limited to operating in a tactical environment operating / maintaining antenna controllers, Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA), Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), Low Noise Block (LNB), up and down converters, Fiber optic/Coax/Ethernet Cable, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA)/TDMA modems (satellite modems).

• Experience and skill with commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures, IP routing and switching, Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), Quality of Service (QoS), Voice and Data - T1/E1, Foreign Exchange Server (FXS), and commercial TDMA/FDMA modems required. Experience with the MRT desired.
• E xperience with Satellite Line of Sight and Near Line of Sight transport methods.
• M ulti-Band/Multi-Mission Communication Terminal or most current.
• Air Force Command and Control & Communications Weapon System nodes.
• Command and Control System-Joint systems.
• Formal operator training for tactical SATCOM systems.
• P rotocol/Network Theory Experience.
• Understanding, configuration and troubleshooting ability of DMVPN Architecture.
• P erform routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, RIP and RIP).
• Kn owledge of switching fundamentals (Virtual Local Area Network System (VLANS), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree).
• Familiarity with Cisco Encryption Concepts within a DMVPN Architecture.
• Un derstanding of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Acceleration over Satellite concepts.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (Interim Secret Clearance is acceptable).

• Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required .
• Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 441 - Network Operations Specialist, Proficiency Level: Basic; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
• Qualifying 8140 certifications may include CND, Network+ or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.

• Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in a tactical environment operating and maintaining satellite communication components, including antenna controllers, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), Low Noise Blocks (LNBs), up/down converters, and various cabling types (Fiber Optic, Coaxial, Ethernet). Proficiency with Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) satellite modems is required.
• Demonstrated expertise in both commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures, IP routing and switching, Voice over IP (VoIP), Quality of Service (QoS), T1/E1 voice and data transmission, Foreign Exchange Server (FXS), and commercial TDMA/FDMA modem technologies. Experience with MRT systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with Satellite Line of Sight (LOS) and Near Line of Sight (NLOS) transport methods.

• Required certifications: CompTIA Network+ and Security+.

• Able to travel to support mission up to 10%.

Education

• B achelor's degree in Engineering , OR an A ssociate's degree plus seven (7 ) years of recent specialized experience , OR eleven (11 ) years of recent specialized experience.
