Duties

This position is located at the 162D, in Tucson Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to conduct formal combat arms training and maintenance activities for the Security Forces Squadron and tenant personnel. Control and operate firing ranges; inspect, repair, and maintain ground weapons. To enforce law, maintain law and order, preserve the peace, and protect life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of the military installation. To oversee the work activities of Drill Status Guardsmen (DSG) assigned to the Security Forces Combat Arms function.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

• ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 162D.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• The work requires a valid driver's license and the incumbent must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment.
• Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties.
• Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies . Position is UTC tasked and is subject to rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• May be required to wear special protective clothing such as coats, boots, vests, respirator masks, and/or helmets.
• Must undergo initial and periodic job compatibility assessments.
• Must obtain and maintain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
• This is a Testing Designated Position TDP. The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. (Cont)
• The caveat is that the states, territories, and the district cannot drug test until a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. (Cont)
• The incumbent must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• The maximum entry age for DoD Law Enforcement is 37. An individual not appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes 37 will not be originally appointed or assigned to these positions. (cont.)

Qualifications

Military Grades: SSgt/E-5 to MSgt/E-7

Compatible Military Assignments: AFSC 3P051

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Qualifying general experience includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Must possess at least 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.
