About the role
Consensus Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Training and Education Needs Assessment Subject Matter Expert to support a Department of Defense training and education needs-assessment effort.
This is a full-time temporary position supporting a project currently scheduled through March 2027. The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel and on-site support at Government locations as required. Travel may include domestic or international locations. Continuation beyond the current project may be possible based on future company needs, but is not guaranteed.
Primary responsibilities
• Lead structured training and education needs analysis in a complex military mission environment.
• Analyze mission functions, tasks, knowledge, skills, abilities, and required training and education outcomes.
• Review policy, doctrine, guidance, mission requirements, and other authoritative sources; connect training requirements to their supporting authorities.
• Conduct interviews and working sessions with military, civilian, training, education, and subject-matter stakeholders.
• Identify current courses and training activities and compare their outcomes with customer requirements to identify gaps, overlaps, and misalignments.
• Assess whether identified needs call for training changes, resource changes, or other organizational actions.
• Develop a recommended annual training and education plan identifying providers, courses, locations, and frequency.
• Work with the analytical team to assess the staffing, capacity, infrastructure, and funding needed to implement the recommended plan.
• Develop clear reports, briefings, and recommendations supported by documented evidence.
Required qualifications
• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance or higher.
• Significant experience in military training, education, readiness, instructional systems, workforce assessment, or closely related work.
• Hands-on experience conducting training needs assessments, training-gap analysis, competency analysis, or comparable structured assessments.
• Strong understanding of military training and education environments and experience engaging military and civilian stakeholders.
• Ability to translate mission requirements and analytical findings into practical, supportable recommendations.
• Strong research, writing, facilitation, and briefing skills.
Preferred qualifications
• Joint, Combatant Command, or multi-Service experience.
• Experience with task-to-training analysis, curriculum crosswalks, or analysis of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Experience developing training plans or assessing training delivery capacity and resource needs.
