The Test Facilities Operation, and Engineering (TFOME III) Team, which includes Troy7, Sierra Lobo, HX5, Amentum & MSM, is currently seeking a GRC Institutional Monitoring & Control System (GIMCS) Workstation Operator to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio. The TFOME team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in the aeronautics, space power and propulsion test facilities. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The GRC Institutional Monitoring & Control System (GIMCS) Workstation Operator will perform basic operation and monitoring of the GRC Institutional Monitoring & Control System (GIMCS), including Siemens Apogee Insight, Desigo CC, and Allen‑Bradley monitored plant systems. Also, will work under supervision to execute console commands, monitor alarms, support troubleshooting, and maintain compliance with NASA’s safety, documentation, and CMMS requirements.

•  Execute basic console operations: start/stop commands, point monitoring, acknowledging alarms, updating status screens, and collecting system trend data.
• Monitor building HVAC, Central Steam, Central Chilled Water Plants, cooling towers, utility metering, and critical alarms through GIMCS.
• Document field panel status, alarm conditions, and operator logs in Maximo.
• Respond to hot/cold calls and support HVAC technicians by identifying control-side issues.
• Follow GIMCS procedures for temporary parameter adjustments, notifying senior operators when changes are required.
• Assist with Area Clearance notifications by relaying impacted building/system information.
• Participate in required Siemens and Allen‑Bradley basic training (per FD01).
• Follow NASA Safety Permits, SOPs, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and hazard control procedures.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Work from various heights on ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, man-lifts, cab cranes, suspended platforms or cages, etc.
  • Crouch, stand, kneel, and stoop while installing, repairing, or testing electrical equipment in confined spaces such as enclosed switch gear, or in structures such as overhead bus and conduit assemblies.
  • Work above ground from aerial bucket trucks and poles, at ground level, and in trenches, or manholes.
  • Work requires bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods while installing, repairing, and testing electrical equipment in manholes and on overhead distribution lines. Pushes and pulls heavy objects.
  • Use of electrical PPE such as arc flash protection clothing, face shields, high voltage gloves, or other required personal protection equipment.
  • Works in closely confined spaces.
  • Lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds, sometimes up and down stairways, where lifting devices and hoists are not available. Lift or pull heavy cables and equipment weighing more than 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
  • Ability to use hearing and vision protection and respiratory equipment.
  • One eye (minimum) correctable to 20/20.
  • Ability to distinguish eight color panel display.
• Work Environment:
  • Work indoors and out in high and low temperatures and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Work in dusty, noisy, hot, high humidity, dirty, and greasy environment. 
  • Work in areas where there may be materials that are irritating to eyes, nose, throat, and skin while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Possible exposure to danger from explosions of equipment and cables in manholes and vaults, as well as danger from high voltage electrical shock, burns from solder, broken bones, cuts, and bruises. 
  • Possible exposure to heat and noise when working in substations or power-generating facilities, to extremes of weather when working outdoors, and to unpleasant odors and wet slippery surfaces when working in manholes.
  • Possible exposure to chemicals such as insulation oil from transformers and oil switches.
  • Use of protective devices such as earplugs, safety hats, and nonconductive gloves and footwear.
  • Work with other personnel in a group that is team oriented.
  • Accept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to company rules and regulations.
• Machinery and Equipment Involved In Work Tasks:
  • Up to 1 1/2 ton trucks and vehicles
  • Forklifts
  • Manlifts such as JLG, Scissor Lifts, and Bucket trucks, etc.
  • Cranes
  • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic hand tools.
  • Ability to become trained on operation of and working in a bucket truck in elevations up to 80 feet for pole line maintenance and installation including tree trimming.

Education and Experience:

Must have a combination of the following: 

• Zero (0) to two (2) years' experience in BAS operations or facility controls. 
• Entry-level BAS/controls aptitude.
• Completion of GIMCS introductory training (Siemens Apogee Insight and Desigo CC basics).
• Ability to understand HVAC and utility systems fundamentals.

Other Position Requirement:

• 
  Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
